What is premium rate and subsidy

Under PM Fasal Bima Yojana, some premium is charged on crop insurance and subsidy is given on it according to the loss of crop. For Kharif crops, up to a maximum of 2 per cent is charged for all food grains and oilseed crops. On the other hand, under the PM Crop Insurance Scheme, for Rabi crops, 1.5% or less of the SI or actuarial rate has to be paid. The farmer will have to deposit a maximum premium of 5 percent or less for Kharif and Rabi annual commercial/annual horticulture crops. On this basis, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana subsidy is paid by the government.
